A rich and ruthless tycoon, Kitsos Mavromitsos, oppresses an entire region and with his money buys people and consciences. He feels all-powerful, but a poor young man, Lambros, who is in love with the beautiful Krystallo, stands up and demands the obvious. Kitsos asks Krystallo for her father, Uncle Chronis, who agrees to make him his son-in-law, but ignores the fact that his daughter loves Lambros.
